Swim with Wild Dolphins in Bimini, Bahamas

A 5-day small group expedition led by a marine biologist. Wild encounters, ethical practices, and the kind of moments that stay with you forever.

The friendliest dolphins in the World

The first time I swam with wild dolphins in Bimini, I came up to the surface shaking. Not from cold. From something I still don’t have words for. They had come toward us — fast, curious, full of life. Twirling. Spinning. Looking me directly in the eye. In that moment I wasn’t a visitor in their world. For a few minutes, I was part of the pod.

I’ve been back to Bimini every year since 2021. And every single time, something in me resets. That’s why I created this expedition. Not to run a tour — but to share something that changed me, with people who are ready to be changed by it too. This July, I’m taking a small group — maximum 7 people — to swim with wild Atlantic spotted dolphins in the warm, crystal-clear waters of Bimini, Bahamas. If your heart is already saying yes — trust that.

Why Bimini is one of the best places in the world to swim with wild dolphins?

Bimini is home to one of the most curious, social, and reliably present wild dolphin populations on Earth — Atlantic spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins that have been interacting with swimmers for decades.

80-90% Encounter success rate

While nothing in nature is guaranteed, Bimini’s encounter rate is around 80-90% during the summer — among the highest of any wild dolphin experience in the world.

Wild Encounters on their terms

We never harass the dolphins. We slip into the water quietly and let them decide if they want to play. When they do — and they often do — the connection is real. That’s what makes it magic.

July Best Season

July is one of the best months to visit Bimini. Less wind, calmer water, and higher dolphin activity make for longer, more relaxed encounters.

35 min flight from Florida

A 35-minute direct flight from Miami or Fort Lauderdale, or a 2-hour ferry. One of the most accessible wild places on Earth.

What we’ll experience together

For four afternoons, we’ll head out on the water searching for wild dolphins. Every encounter is different — sometimes playful, sometimes calm, sometimes curious beyond belief. We never know exactly what they’ll be up to, and that unpredictability is part of the magic. Our mornings are dedicated to everything else the ocean here has to offer.

Day 1 — Arrival & first dolphin search

Arrive in Bimini, settle in, and gather for lunch and our expedition briefing. Afternoon: our first dolphin search — 3 to 4 hours on the water.

Day 2 — Stingrays & dolphins

swim alongside gentle wild stingrays in shallow turquoise water. Afternoon: second dolphin search. Every encounter different from the last.

Day 3 — Sharks, shipwreck & dolphins

Morning: snorkel with reef sharks and explore the Sapona wreck, where turtles often appear. Afternoon: dolphin search. More magic.

Day 4 — Shark lab, dolphin museum & dolphins

Morning: visit the Bimini Shark Lab and the island’s iconic dolphin museum. Afternoon: our final dolphin search — our closing experience in the blue.

Day 5 — Departure

Slow morning. Last swim or beach walk. Heart full.

Preguntas Frecuentes

Do I need to know how to freedive or scuba dive?

No. This is a snorkel-based experience. As long as you’re comfortable swimming in the ocean, you’re ready. No certifications needed. If you are a freediver, that’s a wonderful bonus — dolphins are often drawn to people who move quietly underwater — but it’s not required at all.

Is it guaranteed we’ll see dolphins?

These are wild, free animals — so no encounter can ever be guaranteed. But Bimini’s success rate is around 80-90%, which is remarkably high. We go out every afternoon for 3–4 hours specifically to find them, and the crew has a local network.

Is this ethical?

This is something I care deeply about. We never harass the dolphins. We enter the water quietly and let them decide if they want to interact. When they choose to come to us — and they often do — the encounter is real, reciprocal, and entirely on their terms.

How do I get to Bimini?

A 35-minute direct flight from Fort Lauderdale or Miami into North Bimini Airport (NSB), or the Balearia Caribbean ferry from Port Everglades (about 2 hours). Both are easy.

Can I come alone?

Yes — most people on our expeditions travel solo. The small group format makes it very natural to connect with others. Many guests leave as friends.

What’s the best time of year?

Summer (June–August) is peak dolphin season in Bimini — less wind, calmer water makes it easier to find them. That’s why we’ve timed this expedition for July.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Please read our full terms at freefallacademy.net/terms-and-conditions. Travel insurance is recommended for all expeditions.
